Lynnette Oreilly, CEO. Shire of Moora, March 2009.

Choose any or all of the following:

1. Coaching for a job interview.

Picture 4 Our typical clients are intelligent and professional and expect to get interviews for high-level positions that they really want ... but they are at risk of missing out on jobs because they don't know the best way to promote themselves at the interview, or they are nervous, or they are already good but want to know how to be their very best whatever the questions they get asked. Is this you?

If so, Rachel has a proven track record of turning hopeful job applicants into successful ones. She can bring out the best in you so you can succeed at your job interview and be promoted.

Here are some of the areas she will help you succeed in so you can win that position.

How to:

o

Prepare properly for your job interview questions so that you won't go blank.

o

Answer interview questions with confidence and conviction.

o

Know how much to say and when you've said enough.

o

Take control of the interview.

o

Include all your important information whether or not you are asked the right questions.

o

Convince the interview panel of your value and strengths.

o

Apply your existing skills and strengths to the new position.

o

Select the aspects of your experience that will make you stand out from the other applicants.

o

Anticipate the interview questions.

o

Practise your answers to relevant interview questions.

o

Overcome your interview nerves.

o

Say what you are good at.

o

Differentiate yourself from the opposition even if you don't know who they are.

o

Include all the keywords they will be looking for.

o

Convince them that you DO meet all the essential selection criteria.

o

Produce valid evidence of your skills.

o

Select examples that are both convincing and compelling, and at the right level.

o

Persuade the panel that you meet all the desirable selection criteria.

o

Manage a lack of, or negative, feedback from the panel.

o

Use the right body language.

o

Set yourself above the rest.

o

Choose pertinent and impressive questions to ask your panel.

o

Sell yourself without feeling uncomfortable about bragging.

o

Be your best.

For job interview coaching:

o

Most people only require a single 2 hr session.

o

Sessions are centred on a specific interview.

o

The session is very practical with rehearsals of job interview questions and answers.

o

You will receive immediate and valuable feedback on your answers.

o

You will gain world class job interview tips that will help differentiate you from your competitors.

o

Once you have made an appointment please send Rachel the details of the job you are applying for, including the essential and desirable selection criteria, and your application and CV/resume.

o

After the session you will be sent a handout covering many of the main points raised.

o

While it can seem a lot of money at the time, in comparison to the pay increase associated with a promotion it can be very little.

What others say about this job interview coaching

"Rachel, Thank you for our 1-1 job interview coaching session. My second interview went well and the panel chose me as their preferred candidate and I start my new job next week. You make a huge difference to so many lives, for the better."
Tessa Barkman, Project Officer, WA Police Force. 4th September 2008

"Just thought I would let you know that I was successful in getting the position of Director. I am sure that the coaching session I had with you contributed greatly towards my being successful, so thank you very much!"
Marnie Leybourne, Director, WA Land Information System Office, (WALIS), December 2006.

"I am so excited to say that I have won the position that I so desperately wanted. The job interview training that I received from you was exactly what I needed, it all made perfect sense and it obviously paid off. I know I wouldn't have won the position without working with you.
Jan Whisson, School Principal, Meckering Primary School. October 2006

NB: Please know that most people I successfully coach do not want to go public on their coaching, for obvious reasons. This is why I have included testimonials over a number of years even though I have coached many more people in between who have also successfully got the jobs they wanted.

Here is your risk-free guarantee.

I am so confident that I can help you, and my record of success is so high, that I guarantee that if you attend a face-to-face coaching session, for a minimum of two hours, at least three or more days before your interview, and you apply all the strategies I teach you in your job interview, and you do not get the job, I will give you a second session completely free, any time in the next 12 months.

5. Professional Mentoring for Executives and Managers

Picture 10 Do you want a mentor? A mentor who will support and encourage you in achieving leadership effectiveness and your full potential? Who will be a sounding board and stimulate your thinking, decision making and problem solving? A mentor who has a broad range of experience and a sound base of expertise in managing people issues and personal development? If so, Rachel is this kind of mentor.

She mentors a select number of individual executives/senior managers each year. Each mentor-mentee relationship programme is individually designed and different. As a mentor, Rachel has the flexibility to draw from many different areas of knowledge and practical experience.

Both the format and content of the mentor programme will be individually tailored.

What is the difference between mentoring and coaching?

Coaching is focused upon skill development in a particular area, e.g. developing persuasive skills when giving a speech.

Mentoring also involves coaching and skill development, but much more. It addition to developing skills it may also provide you with opportunities to access new people, resources and ideas; the sharing of experiences; a sounding board for your own ideas; facilitation of problem solving and decision making; debate and brain storming; attending events together; clarification of thinking; identification of issues and goals; and more ... whatever helps boost your performance and makes your job easier.

It can also have a "whole of job" perspective or a "whole of life" perspective. For example, recently a CEO Rachel was mentoring had relationship issues he wished to overcome and she resourced a team of experts to help him, all of whom were at the top of their respective fields, and whom she knew and could personally recommend.

Mentor content may include

o

Encouragement and support in exploring new perspectives, solutions, attitudes and strategies.

o

Feedback on and input into communication skills, style, strategies and areas for development.

o

Advice and techniques for staff, executive, board and shareholder relationships.

o

Managing and understanding "difficult" people.

o

Guidance and direction in thinking clearly through issues, problems and concerns.

o

An objective sounding board and reality check.

o

Self-management, e.g. emotional and physical well-being, energy levels, resilience and selecting priorities.

o

Handling work-life balance, stress and pressure in a complex, demanding environment so you still have breathing space in your brain.

o

Change management strategies for a fast-paced, rapidly changing workplace.

o

Handling conflict, performance management and feedback.

o

Communicating and clarifying your vision and direction.

o

Listening to your ideas, issues and viewpoints.

o

Chairing and running meetings.

o

Personal presence.

o

Networking and conversational skills and building key relationships.

o

Personalised strategies to avoid becoming defensive or taking things to heart.

o

Debate, discussion and generation of ideas.

o

Joint planning of events and strategies.

and more.

Mentor formats

The mentoring programme can include a range of formats to best suit each mentor situation.

The mentor programme centres around you and your needs, but can involve you in your work context, e.g. interacting with your team of Directors, conducting meetings with your managers and staff, giving presentations, and so on.

For example, Rachel is able to:

o

Provide face-to-face, 1-1 sessions in your workplace in Western Australia.

o

Prepare with you and then observe, discuss and give feedback on meetings.

o

Prepare with you and then observe, discuss and give feedback on your presentations or other communication situations.

o

Provide face-to-face sessions in her Kelmscott office.

o

Provide phone or Skype sessions.

o

Participate in e-mail discussions.

o

Conduct small group executive workshops, e.g. you plus executives.

o

Analyse recordings of you ...

and more.

She says, "It is important that we complement each other and not that we are the same as each other. I can bring a wealth of experience in personal and professional development and a different perspective to your work so you can benefit from an expansion of ideas and knowledge and skill. My experience and knowledge have not come from studying a 'life coaching textbook' but from life itself. This means I can be of maximum practical value to you."

What others have said about the mentor programme

As the mentor-mentee relationship is a personal and confidential one, I do not expect anyone to publicly declare their work with me. However, here is a sample of two relevant testimonials.

"Rachel, I think the process I went through with you was really successful in bringing me to an understanding of what I want. I really value the work you did with me, as I am sure that personal growth is always worth the trip. I am sure I will be back to see you over the years."
Martin Barrett, School Principal, Good Sheppard Catholic Primary School.

"I chose you as a coach in leadership and emotional intelligence based on your excellent reputation and diverse experience.
