Professional Mentoring
Being a senior member of an organisation can be tough. Who do you talk to? Who can you trust? Who can support you during the tough times?
Many senior people are now benefiting from having a professional mentor. It can help you overcome the isolation and help you move to achieve your work and life goals.
Do you want to find a mentor? A mentor who will support and encourage you in achieving leadership effectiveness and your full potential? Who will be a sounding board and stimulate your thinking, decision making and problem solving? A mentor who has a broad range of experience and a sound base of expertise in managing people issues and personal development?
Yes! If so, award-winning communication specialist and Emotional intelligence expert, Rachel Green is this kind of mentor.
She mentors a select number of individual executives/senior managers each year. Each mentor-mentee relationship programme is individually designed and different. As a mentor, Rachel has the flexibility to draw from many different areas of knowledge and practical experience.
Both the format and content of the mentor programme will be individually tailored.
No-one else need ever know you're receiving professional mentoring but the results will be obvious.

Professional Mentoring Services for Executives and Managers
What is the difference between mentoring and coaching?
Coaching is focused upon skill development in a particular area, e.g. developing persuasive skills when giving a speech.
Mentoring also involves coaching and skill development, but much more. It addition to developing skills it may also provide you with opportunities to access new people, resources and ideas, the sharing of experiences, a sounding board for your own ideas, facilitation of problem solving and decision making, debate and brain storming, attending events together, clarification of thinking, identification of issues and goals, and more ... whatever helps boost your performance and makes your job easier.
It can also have a "whole of job" perspective or a "whole of life" perspective. For example, recently a CEO Rachel was mentoring had relationship issues he wished to overcome and she resourced a team of experts to help him, all of whom were at the top of their respective fields, and whom she knew and could personally recommend.
Similarly, another executive had health problems and she helped him resource and gain access to appropriate professionals specialising in that area.
Mentor content may include
 | Encouragement and support in exploring new perspectives, solutions, attitudes and strategies.
| | Feedback on and input into communication skills, style, strategies and areas for development.
| | Advice and techniques for staff, executive, board and shareholder relationships.
| | Managing and understanding "difficult" people.
| | Guidance and direction in thinking clearly through issues, problems and concerns.
| | An objective sounding board and reality check.
| | Self-management, e.g. emotional and physical well-being, energy levels, resilience and selecting priorities.
| | Handling work-life balance, stress and pressure in a complex, demanding environment so you still have breathing space in your brain.
| | Change management strategies for a fast-paced, rapidly changing workplace.
| | Handling conflict, performance management and feedback.
| | Communicating and clarifying your vision and direction.
| | Listening to your ideas, issues and viewpoints.
| | Chairing and running meetings.
| | Personal presence.
| | Networking and conversational skills and building key relationships.
| | Personalised strategies to avoid becoming defensive or taking things to heart.
| | Debate, discussion and generation of ideas.
| | Joint planning of events and strategies.
|
and more.
Choose your professional mentoring format
The mentoring programme can include a range of formats to best suit each mentor situation.
The mentor programme centres around you and your needs, but can involve you in your work context, e.g. interacting with your team of Directors, conducting meetings with your managers and staff, giving presentations, and so on.
For example, Rachel is able to:
 | Provide face-to-face, 1-1 sessions in your workplace in Western Australia.
| | Prepare with you and then observe, discuss and give feedback on meetings.
| | Prepare with you and then observe, discuss and give feedback on your presentations or other communication situations.
| | Provide face-to-face sessions in her Kelmscott office.
| | Provide phone or Skype sessions.
| | Participate in e-mail discussions.
| | Conduct small group executive workshops, e.g. you plus executives.
| | Analyse recordings of you ...
|
and more.
|

What others have said about the professional mentoring programme
As the mentor-mentee relationship is a personal and confidential one, I do not expect anyone to publicly declare their work with me. However, here is a sample of three relevant testimonials.
"Rachel, I think the process I went through with you was really successful in bringing me to an understanding of what I want. I really value the work you did with me, as I am sure that personal growth is always worth the trip. I am sure I will be back to see you over the years."
Martin Barrett, School Principal, Good Sheppard Catholic Primary School.
"The best thing about working with you is that I have gone away from your sessions with heaps of strategies that I can use immediately to transform the quality of my interactions with colleagues, clients, family or even complete strangers! The second best thing about working with you is that I had a very engaging, challenging and enjoyable time learning new knowledge and practising new skills. I would highly recommend your individual work to anyone wanting to build his or her skills in interpersonal communication. You are a clever, intuitive, energetic and completely professional coach and trainer."
Mary Aquino, Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) Flexible Learning Leader, Central TAFE, Perth.

My Personal Guarantee to you
Professional Mentoring Programme
 | I will, as your mentor, identify significant outcomes to be achieved and measure these to ensure the success of the mentoring programme.
| | I also commit to approaching each mentoring session with you, and the whole mentoring period, in a flexible way to meet your needs as they arise and change. I will not rigidly adhere to some pre-set formula or plan which misses the mark for you.
| | I promise to be open and honest with you and will not avoid saying the hard things that others may not tell you.
| | However, at all times, as your mentor, I will endeavour to be compassionate, kind and respectful.
| | And generous with my time and expertise, doing whatever I need to do to help you find ways to develop, grow and achieve.
| | I also guarantee, as your mentor, to be practical and down-to-earth and not bury you in theoretical models, which have little practical application or relevance. Ideas will be both sensible and innovative.
| | I will be open to feedback and challenge as part of the mentoring programme.
| | I will bring high levels of self-awareness to our interactions.
| | I will maintain confidentiality and commitment to our mentoring process, and will expect the same from you.
| | I will maintain my own personal and professional development and will continue to obtain wise counsel so you always get me at my best.
| | I will bring a sense of humour to all that we do together.
